Nidup Dorji has been the Vice Chancellor of the Royal University of Bhutan since September 2014, after serving for three years as Chief Executive Officer of Bhutan Telecom Limited, a state-owned corporate company providing telecommunications and internet services. During the three decades of his career and leadership in higher education, Dorji helped transform the undergraduate programmes in Bhutan in mathematics, computer science, civil engineering, electrical engineering, architecture, electronics and communication engineering, and information technology.
In recognition of his important contributions, Nidup Dorji was conferred Fringeless Scarves with Sword by His Majesty the King of Bhutan. He also serves as member of several committees and boards such as Dzongkha Development Commission, Governing Board of South Asian University, Royal Institute of Governance for Strategic Studies, and Royal Educational Council. He comes from a mathematics background and completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in the United Kingdom, including at Oxford University.
