HUC Executive Committee Chairperson, since 1 May 2025
Eng. Prof. Dr. Attallah Shah (PhD Civil Engineering, MS Str Engg, MPhil Eco, MS Envir Design, MBA, and PGD Computer Sc) is a prominent academician who authors 6 books and more than 100 publications in refereed journals and international conferences in the areas of engineering economics, high strength concrete, disaster management, and construction project management. Before becoming KIU’s 5th Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shah served as Vice Chancellor of City University of Science and IT Peshawar (2014-2018). He was the Director of Projects and Planning at AIOU during 2000-2014. He is Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Pakistan, Chairman K P Chapter of IEP, Consulting Engineer and Life Member of Pakistan Engineering Council. He also served as Member of numerous HEC and PEC committees, offering his expertise in academic leadership, financial management, resource mobilization and outcome-based education and assessment.
Prof Shah has been an active senior affiliate of the HUC since 2018 when he attended the High-level Meeting of UGC/HEC Chairpersons as part of the General Assembly Meeting in Kathmandu. He served as one of the members of the HUC Sustainability and Resource Mobilization Task Force (2023-2024) and ICIMOD-HUC Joint Task Force on Management Structure and Secretariat’s Hosting Arrangements (June-December 2024). Between 1 November 2024 and 30 April 2025, Prof Shah led the HUC Steering Committee in the capacity of Interim Acting Chairperson. Following the affirmation by members through HUC General Assembly Emergency Voting, April 2025, Prof Shah was reconfirmed as the Chairperson of HUC Executive Committee, effective 1 May 2025.
Prof Shah brings to the HUC leadership and community his vision of a self-reliant academic community that builds firmly on mutual respect and interests among HUC members as well as high-level science diplomacy.
