Austin Lord, Ph.D. is a Senior Fellow within the Energy, Water and Sustainability program at the Stimson Center. His research focuses on disaster and climate risk management, water and energy policy, infrastructure development, and environmental governance in Nepal and the broader Himalayan region. Austin is the Lead Consultant for Stimson’s disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation-oriented work in Nepal, which is currently focused on developing early warning systems for cascading hazards and extreme flow events. He will also advise Stimson on environmental issues related to water resource management, energy politics, climate-resilience, and socio-environmental politics in the Himalayan region.
